"There was a story of six consecutive victories."
Samsung Lions starter Choi Won-tae led his team to its sixth consecutive win.
Choi Won-tae started in an away game against the 2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League SSG Landers at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 29th and retired without winning or losing in six ⅓ innings with three hits, two walks and six strikeouts.메이저사이트
He posted speeds of up to 148 kilometers per hour. He threw 96 pitches, 53 fastballs, 24 change-ups, 10 sliders, five curves, and four two-seam pitches.
He got off to a good start. He grounded out Jihoon Choi, the leadoff hitter, to shortstop in the first inning. He allowed Choi Jun-woo to a walk, but allowed Ryan McBroom to ground out to the second base and Han Yu-sum to strike out. He was also hit by leadoff hitter Park Sung-han in the second inning. Later, he grounded out Oh Tae-gon to the third base and Cho Hyung-woo to the second. Park advanced to the second base but was out after trying to steal.
I lost points because I was unlucky. Jeong Joon-jae, the leadoff hitter in the third inning, hit a strong ball toward the pitcher. Choi Won-tae put out his glove but failed to catch it and the ball was bent. Shortstop Lee Jae-hyun caught it, but it is too late to throw it. At Ahn's at-bat, Jung Joon-jae stole second base. Ahn Sang-hyun's ball also went to Choi Won-tae, and the ball was bent on the glove, and Ahn also got on base due to an infield hit. Jihoon Choi's ground ball to the first base allowed Ahn to reach the second base. Choi's sacrifice fly pushed third baseman Jung Joon-jae to home. Choi struck out McBroom with three strikeouts and prevented additional runs.
He regained stability. He completed three consecutive three-out innings in the fourth inning with a fly ball to center field, a strikeout to rookie, a fly ball to shortstop, a strikeout to swing and miss in the fifth inning, and a fly ball to third baseman, a straight hit to third baseman and a strikeout to swing and miss in the sixth inning.
He hit a grounder to the second base in the seventh inning. The first batter Han Yoo-som grounded out to the second base at the first pitch. He allowed Park to get on base with a walk. He induced Oh to ground out to the pitcher. Making a double play and throwing to second base became a throwing error beyond second baseman Yang Yang-geun's height.
With runners on the first and third bases with one out, coach Park Jin-man put down Choi Won-tae and put in Lee Ho-seong. Cho's walk loaded the bases with one out. Jung Joon-jae hit a ground ball to the second base, and third baseman Park Sung-han was forced out of the home ground. He struck out after a game of seven pitches against Ko Myung-joon, and ended the inning without losing a point.
Afterwards, Samsung scored one point each in the eighth and ninth innings, and won the game 3-1. It is the sixth consecutive win in a whopping 3,505 days. This is the last record between the SK game at Daegu Civic Stadium on Sept. 17, 2015, and the match against the Suwon KT game on Sept. 24.
After the game, Choi Won-tae said, "I'm sorry that I made a mistake, but I'm satisfied that the team won. I'm grateful that you defended me well from behind."
Regarding the final situation, he expressed regret repeatedly. "The inning ends with a double play, but I passed it over..."There is a rumor that he has won six consecutive games. Before that, he had two (infield) hits after being hit by the glove," he sighed.
He then smiled, saying, "I thought (Lee Ho-sung) would block it well."
He played six ⅓ innings on the first day of the nine consecutive games. Choi Won-tae said, "If I stir the crab and (Kang) Min-ho presses the pitch again, I just throw it. When Min-ho pressed it again, the result was out. My choice was wrong and Min-ho was right. I thank Min-ho for his help."
Prior to the game, Choi had allowed a steal of 66.7 percent. SSG intentionally started a fast lineup for that purpose. "Minho's shoulders are good even if there is a fast runner. I thought I could catch him if I don't lose the timing," Choi said.
